Getting Started
How do I add a countdown?
Click the Look Forward icon in your menu bar to open the panel, then click the blue "+ What are you looking forward to?" button. Give your event a name, choose an icon and color, set a date and time, and hit Create.
How do I get a countdown to show in my menu bar?
Tap the star ★ on any countdown to mark it as a favorite. Starred countdowns rotate in the menu bar automatically. You can star multiple events and they'll cycle through at the interval you set in Settings.
How do I edit or delete a countdown?
Click any countdown row to open the edit form, or right-click (Control-click) a row to see options including Delete. You can also swipe left on a row to reveal the delete option.
Menu Bar
Can I change how fast the menu bar rotates?
Yes — open Settings (☰ menu → Settings) and adjust the Rotation Speed slider under Menu Bar. You can set it anywhere from 3 to 15 seconds per item.
Can I change the transition style?
Yes. In Settings → Menu Bar, choose between Crossfade, Ticker, or Slide transitions for how starred items rotate.
How do I show or hide seconds in the menu bar?
Go to Settings → Menu Bar and toggle "Show Seconds" on or off.
Settings & General
How do I make Look Forward open at login?
Go to Settings → General and toggle "Launch at Login." Look Forward will then start automatically when you log into your Mac.
How do notifications work?
When a countdown reaches its target date and time, Look Forward sends a local notification. Make sure notifications are enabled in Settings → General, and that Look Forward is allowed to send notifications in System Settings → Notifications.
What happens when a countdown reaches zero?
The countdown shows "🎉 It's today!" in the panel. In Settings → Countdown, you can choose to keep completed events visible or hide them automatically.
Does Look Forward support light and dark mode?
Yes. Look Forward follows your system appearance by default, or you can set it to always Light or always Dark in Settings → Appearance.
Is my data private?
Completely. All countdown data is stored locally on your Mac and never leaves your device. We collect no analytics, no personal data, and have no servers storing your information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I request a refund for a tip?
Tip jar purchases are processed by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select the purchase. Apple handles all refund decisions.
